Astor Piazzolla meets Ennio Morricone in this tango-flavoured album with a twist of spaghetti western. The tango genre is explored, violated, and blended not only with westerns but also everything from jazz to experimental electronics to Cuban music. And the musicians are well-qualified, coming from such backgrounds as Monsieur Camembert, Mr. Bungle, Marsala, Darth Vegas, Hermitude, Gauche and Jackie Orszaczky.

世界上总有些奇怪有趣的人在玩一些奇怪有趣的音乐。“探戈沙龙”是一个藏在澳洲的人搞的，吉他、贝司、键盘手Julian Curwin，他决定把他最喜欢的两个人的音乐搞在一起：阿根廷人、探戈大师、手风琴家Astor Piazzolla与意大利人、电影配乐大师、意式西部片音乐开创者Ennio Morricone。所以这张唱片就是西部片式的苍凉、阳光、尘土与等待，再加上探戈——散漫的、轻盈的探戈。音乐（大部分是原创）以原声器乐为主（吉他、贝司、手风琴、小提琴、铜管乐等），加上少量的电子器材（主要集中在第8首“Man With the Bongos”，一首古怪的电子作品），而且只有一首演唱歌曲（翻唱Astor Piazzoll作品“Libertango”）却非常动听。正如封面设计一样，整张唱片更像是一部西部电影的原声音乐，而电影名字叫做“The Tango Saloon”，而它的中文名也许该译为《西部探戈往事》。（Tango Saloon《The Tango Saloon》2006年4月）
