天气真不错，没有什么风，就路边有几棵呆呆的仙人掌。我刚到梅尔斯镇卖给哈里斯几头牛，正骑着比利往家里赶呢。比利是我那匹枣红马，我父亲在我八岁的时候送给我的，他的胸口有一块白色，很漂亮也很健壮，他是匹人人都喜欢的好马。黄昏的太阳看上去真美，那么大又不刺眼，我迫不及待想赶紧回家，老妈一定做好了晚餐等着我呢。

我感觉有些口渴，路过十字路口的时候，我下了马，把比利拴在酒吧门口的柱子上。酒吧里人不多都是熟悉的面孔，john大笑着过来抱住我，他是酒吧老板，一个老牛仔了。我也抱着他大声的说：“嘿，john昨天去看比赛了吗？我赢了骑小牛比赛！”“哈哈，joe，你的屁股就想粘在牛背上一样啊，足足一分四十五秒呢，哈哈，全德克萨斯德牛仔都应该向你一样，哈哈。你爸爸怎么样啊？这几天晚上也不过来喝酒了”………………………

寒喧了几句以后，我要了杯啤酒靠着吧台静静的喝着。这时一个年轻的姑娘走了进来。她个子挺高，黑色的头发披在肩膀后面，穿着石褐色束腰长裙，很好看。可是脚上却穿了双浅色软皮短靴，她肯定是头一次来德克萨斯，这种靴子在沙漠里是很难保养的，呵呵。

她来到吧台前面跟john说了几句，好像是有什么人给她留了封信。她一手捋着头发一手拿着信，样子很专注。我发现从她进来到这时我几乎一直看着她，这样仿佛不大礼貌。我拿杯子底敲了敲吧台，

“嘿，我不是酒吧招待，但是……但是，你不想喝点什么吗？”

她微笑着摇了摇头，那歪着头微笑的样子非常迷人。我不知道接下来该不该说点什么，真空了几十秒有点尴尬的样子。她又抬起头来，看着我说：

“你们美国的牛仔都想你一样没事可做吗？”

我愣了一下，看看她又看看john，“哈哈哈…………”我们三个一起大笑起出声来。我坐了过去，让john给她一杯茶。外面进来一位身穿礼服的绅士朝我们走过来，

“哦，格瑞斯亲爱的，我们该上路了，我刚换了两匹马，得在天黑前到皮克郡才行。”

姑娘喝干了杯里的茶，起身跟那位绅士走到门口的时候，转过身来笑着对我说：

“谢谢你的茶，再见！”

“不客气，有时间路过这可以来找我，我叫joe！”
